Cut A Rug

I've been given a passion to teach people how to dance for many years and now the time has come! Within the areas of Lynchburg, Bedford County, and Madison Hieghts Virginia there is an opportunity to receive live dance lessons and direct feedback from your own personal dance instructor. What's better is that you don't have to leave your home for this to be accomplished! Whether you have always wanted to learn how to dance, don't know where to start, or would just like to become a better dancer, I am here to help you! If it's a class reunion, wedding reception, or any other function that will involve dancing I can assist you with lessons.

 

I will provide you with dance sessions that will bring you one step closer to being lighter on your feet. These sessions are designed to help you exert energy, become familiar with the foundation of a dance style, and enjoy your time set aside to learn. During each session I'll make sure you have intentional feedback and clear instruction that's catered to your personal dance goals and needs. Don't have speakers? Don't worry, I can provide a portable speaker during the sessions. Overall, my goal is to help you get to a point where you are moving to music better and have fun doing it.

 

So why the name Cut A Rug?

 

The term "cut a rug" is a slang term that was used by the youth dating back to the early 1920's. What the term specifically refers to has been debated over time, however, a consistent factor in all discussions is that the term was used in reference to dancing. It is a popular opinion that it was a reference to energetic dance moves executed very impressively by an individual. Though this phrase seems obsolete in today's society, it actually describes the type of service I provide perfectly. With the help of a dancer who has years of experience coming to you with guidelines, coaching, and a little humor you'll be able to cut a rug on the dance floor in no time!
